About Sunflowers
Known for his bold, brilliant paintings and manic behaviour, Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh is one of the most recognizable artists in Western Art. His two series of Sunflowers are among his most famous.
The first series, executed in Paris in 1887, depicts flowers lying on the ground, while the second set, made a year later in Arles, shows a bouquet of sunflowers in a vase. What is interesting about this particular painting is that the sunflowers are wilting.
Van Gogh hung the first two paintings in his guestroom in Arles as a way to welcome – and impress – his friend, painter Paul Gauguin, when he came to stay.
One of the world’s greatest artists, Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh completed more than 2,100 works, consisting of 860 oil paintings and more than 1,300 watercolors, drawings and sketches during his decade-long career. While he only ever sold one painting in his lifetime, Van Gogh’s works are now considered priceless.
This puzzle was beautiful and was so satisfying to complete. The colors were full of life and the puzzle pieces themselves were of sturdy and good quality. The colors look exactly like the box! The photo may not look like it, but it really is! That was my favorite part of the puzzle
The final dimensions however are 19.25" and 26.6", which is not what was written on the website. This puzzle is too small to fit a standard 20" x 28" frame, so a 20" x 27" frame may be a better fit. I am also upset that the farthest left flower and the farthest right flower is cut off. I wanted all of the flowers to show on the puzzle, but they didn't make it.
Overall, this puzzle was worth buying. I just wish the flowers weren't cut off.
