La vie de Frida Kahlo est presque aussi célèbre que son art. Née en 1907, Frida Kahlo est une peintre mexicaine autodidacte, surtout connue pour avoir exprimé de manière saisissante sa douleur physique et émotionnelle chronique à travers son art. De ses 143 peintures, 55 sont des autoportraits. « Je me peins parce que je suis si souvent seule et parce que je suis le sujet que je connais le mieux », a-t-elle déclaré. Bien qu’elle ait rejeté cette étiquette, elle est souvent identifiée comme peintre surréaliste.
